Will an Abdominal Hernia Go Away By Itself?

1 min read
Abdominal hernias (e.g., ventral, incisional, umbilical, inguinal, femerol) do not go away on their own.
While sometimes the amount of tissue that pushes through the “hole” may be less, the “hole” itself does not get smaller.
The hole, or defect, is the basic problem with hernias. The hole just gets bigger, and does not get smaller.
Hernias can become life-threatening (e.g., with strangulation) and should be evaluated by a physician.
