Fish oil may have several health benefits and we’ve learned that these come from a particular type of fat...
Omega 3’s. But fats are more complex then might be commonly understood.
That’s because fats have size and size matters...or length specifically...short, medium, and long chain lengths.
And there’s a “new” fat in town, and it’s called Omega 11. It’s actually not that new as it naturally occurs in fish oil, albeit at at lower concentrations.

But a new oil called Saury fish oil is higher in this omega 11. And the first human trials were completed and recently published.
When compared to standard fish oil, saury fish oil was more effective in reducing LDL cholesterol and even slightly improved HDL cholesterol.
LDL cholesterol is known as the “bad” cholesterol because high LDL levels lead to a buildup of cholesterol in your arteries. This buildup can turn into plaque creating a condition called atherosclerosis.
And HDL cholesterol is known as the “good“ cholesterol because it carries cholesterol from other parts of your body back to your liver for disposal.
