A breast mass is a lump that is found in the breast by you or your doctor. A breast mass is not necessarily bad. 
If you feel what you think is a mass, feel the same spot in the opposite breast. If the tissue feels similar then it is likely just normal tissue in your breast. 
If a mass seems to increase and decrease with your cycle then typically is not worrisome. Masses that continue to grow or are persistent should be´┐╝ evaluates. 
If you feel something that is new or different from the other breast, make an appointment with your doctor, or better yet, see a breast surgeon.

The best way to evaluate a mass is to have an exam by a doctor and possibly get a mammogram and/or an ultrasound. 
Never be afraid to seek a 2nd opinion from a breast surgeon if you are still worried about something in your breast.
