A breast mass is a lump that is found in the breast by you or your doctor. A breast mass is not necessarily bad.
If you feel what you think is a mass, feel the same spot in the opposite breast. If the tissue feels similar then it is likely just normal tissue in your breast.
If a mass seems to increase and decrease with your cycle then typically is not worrisome. Masses that continue to grow or are persistent should be evaluates.
If you feel something that is new or different from the other breast, make an appointment with your doctor, or better yet, see a breast surgeon.
The best way to evaluate a mass is to have an exam by a doctor and possibly get a mammogram and/or an ultrasound.
Never be afraid to seek a 2nd opinion from a breast surgeon if you are still worried about something in your breast.
